Abstract

[eng] When assessing the impact of agriculture to employement, only considering the number of directly employed workers is not sufficient. In this paper, the notion of «agriculture related workers» is identified. These workers have employement in non agricultural, but agriculture related industrial or tertiary activities. During the last 15 years, many such workplaces have been created, mainly by food industries and food services. In that sens, and because of its periphery, agriculture remains the head of rural economy in many french departments (i.e. districts).
