Abstract

[eng] Ten years have gone by since computerisation was first introduced on farms and the question may be asked : « what progress and what success has been achieved ? ». The market does not have enough ressources to enable all the farm software companies to provide permanent high-quality services. One reason for this would seem to be a sort of psychological block on the part of farmers and their tendency to look for « self service » solutions. An analysis of computer use by farmers reveals that the motivation involved arises under three headings - the family, the individual and the line of production. Trying to cater for the diversity of expectations of farmers is an enourmous difficulty for the professional networks and this also explains, in large mesure, the slowgrouth in computerisation of farms.
