Abstract

[eng] The permanent difficulties French agriculture has met since 1974 and the changes in the financial and banking environment lead the Crédit Agricole, as the first bank for farmers, to modify its relations with this sector. The increasing risk of not being repaid implies that a particularly careful study of the projects should be achieved before making any decision. The differentiation of the needs concerning banking products and services is ever increasing ; an so is the recent but determined competition from the other banks to reach the best farmers. So that the Crédit Agricole is led to divide the farming sector, and offer a range of products, each of them fitting each kind of customers. The Crédit Agricole used to be a lender in the farming sector, it is now turning into a banker for farmers.
