Abstract

[eng] Level and acceleration of grain yields in the world agriculture geography, development and perspectives - The statistical analysis covers the following cereals : wheat, rice, maize, barley, rye, sorghum and millet. All countries are considered for the time period 1960-1980. Several world maps were drawn to permit a better perception of the spatial configuration of the factors considered. The contribution consists of three parts. The first part discusses the different growth rates of the human population and the notion of the « Green Revolution ». In the second part the level and the different growth rates of cereal yields have been compared. The third part deals with the competitiveness of the main grain producing regions. Finally, the main indicators of the foreign grain trade are integrated in general reflections about those factors which mainly determine the competition among the world's grain producing regions.
