Vers la stagnation du revenu agricole

Abstract

[eng] The relative decrease in the importance of farming in all industrialized countries is an economic law that has been well known for some time, but it was usually accompanied by an increase in the quantities produced and hence of Income. . But a careful examination of French Farming Accounts, recently readjusted with the new nomenclature, indicates a new fact that cannot but give the farming profession cause for concern. Since the beginning of the sixties the long-term tendency is for purchasing power to remain stationary. . The writer, after checking this by calculations based on global statistics, tries to explain why, even without unfavourable comparative prices, farm income varies only very slightly with the increased volume of production.
