Abstract

[eng] The conditions of change in a traditional African peasant environnement : an economic survey in moyenne Casamance - In order to study the farm policies possible in a small region in Southern Senegal, a model of the traditional behaviour of peasants was built by linear programming. The model was checked and then used to forecast the evolution of the region with different hypotheses. Certain important results were thus brought out : the complementarity of rice and ground nuts, and the role of cotton-growing (in the particular conditions of the area).
