Crise des « subprimes » : assurance et assurabilité

Abstract

[fre] La nouvelle crise financière mondiale actuelle, provoquée par la baisse de la valorisation, voire la non-liquidité d’instruments financiers utilisant le rendement de prêts immobiliers américains à risque, engendre déjà une augmentation importante des mises en cause à l’encontre des institutions financières et de leurs dirigeants aux États-Unis et en Europe. Ces mises en cause émanent à la fois des actionnaires, des clients particuliers ou institutionnels et du régulateur. Quelles seront les pertes enregistrées par les assureurs au titre des garanties d’assurance délivrées aux institutions financières ? En quoi cette crise est-elle différente des précédentes ? Débordera-t-elle sur les entreprises industrielles et commerciales ? Quelles leçons allons-nous en tirer ? S’il est encore trop tôt pour aboutir à des conclusions, quelques pistes de réflexion peuvent d’ores et déjà être dégagées.
