Abstract

. Classification JEL : F15, N14 [eng] Towards a global role for Europe . Despite its institutional frailties, Europe is still a major player on the international stage. Europe’s global ambition can be understood by reviewing its international economic relations over recent decades. Europe is in a position to offer concrete solutions to the challenges of globalisation, not only in economic and social terms, but also in fields of environment and energy. Moreover, Europe can contribute to peace, financial stability and development by inventing a new approach to international co-operation and helping create a new form of world governance, in the interest of sustainable development. . JEL classification : F15, N14
