Abstract

. Classification JEL : F15, F36 [eng] Integration and divergence : Europe faces its disparities . This article comments on certain facts relating to the gaps, revealed by statistics, in the economic situations of EU member countries, and in particular those countries in the Euro Zone. It analyses currency-based differences by examining the gaps in inflation rates, price trends in certain sectors (real estate, services, energy), the impact of taxation and the perception of inflation, as well as their implications in terms of monetary policy. Also analysed are the divergence factors related to social organisation in EU member countries and which impact salary negotiations, public finances and the actual economy. . JEL classification : F15, F36
