Abstract

[eng] The burden of urban transport : the consistency of urban sprawl . The current development of urban settlements increasingly relies on the use of motorised transport means. How much does it cost to citizens and public authorities, how to evaluate the burden to the environment ? What are the shares of car and public transport in these costs ? This paper proposes updated evaluations of these costs and discusses the consistency of urban sprawl with the economic, social and environmental dimensions of the sustainable development. . . Classification JEL : R4
