Abstract

[eng] Natural disasters, terrorist risks, rising healthcare costs and the impact of ageing on retirement benefits are the greatest challenges for the American insurers, of which results have been constantly improving since 2002. The sector in the United States is primarily regulated by the States and greatly influenced by external factors such as the tort system. Since 2004, the industry business practices are under the scrutiny of judges and regulators. But the reforms of the tort system and of the outdated regulation are slow moving processes. . JEL classification : G22, G28, I18 . . . Classification JEL : G22, G28, I18
