Abstract

[eng] The future of the Chinese economy . The spectacular development of China in the last 25 years and now significant share in the world economy confers a great interest in long term forecasts on the Chinese economy. The dynamic of China take off is clear : it is based on demographic transition, high level of capital accumulation and, above all, productivity gains because of economic reforms or/and labour transfers from the agricultural sector to the secondary and tertiary sectors. On the medium term, this dynamic of growth seems robust. Several factors could deflect this dynamic, on the upside (acceleration of reforms) or on the downside (demography, maturity of the economy), but the breakpoints, if any, can only come from the retroaction of external factors, influenced by the speed of growth : internal political situation, external economic relations, social tensions, environment... . . Classification JEL : O11, O24, O53
