Jean Peyrelevade is clearly in favor for the creation of a european banking regulation agency, independant, private funded, the only way to eliminate distorsions due to differences of practices between the different national regulators. . Classification JEL : G18, G20 [fre] Jean Peyrelevade (Président du Crédit Lyonnais) révèle dans son interview qu’il ne voit pas la nécessité du rapprochement, en France, entre la Commission bancaire et la Commission de contrôle des assurances car leurs cibles et leurs champs d’action sont très différents. En revanche, Jean Peyrelevade se prononce pour la création d’une agence européenne de régulation bancaire indépendante, de statut privé, ce qui serait le seul moyen efficace d’éliminer les disparités des pratiques des régulateurs européens qui sont actuellement sources de distorsions importantes. .
