Abstract

[fre] L’industrie des services financiers est en rapide mutation. L’évolution de l’environnement concurrentiel, lié à la mise en place de l’euro et à l’émergence d’Internet, obligent les banques à modifier leurs stratégies. En particulier, un vaste mouvement de fusion et de croissance externe, justifié par la course à la taille et le développement hors du marché domestique, est à l’oeuvre dans toute l’Europe. Dans ces conditions, une nouvelle conception de la place financière bancaire apparaît. . Classification JEL : G29 [eng] Banking industry : new environment, new challenges . Banks’ strategies have been strongly affected by the increase of competition ; in Europe, a vast movement of mergers can be observed. In this context, a new conception of the financial center has appeared. . JEL Classification : G29
