Abstract

[eng] In order to understand the articulation between the firm and entrepreneurship it is necessary to study the firm-specific forms of the entrepreneurial function. The entrepreneurial function is based on pieces of Knowledge that are dispersed within the organisation because of the specialisation process. The discovery of profit opportunites then lies in the communication between the members of the organisation who possess the relevant Knowledge. Two simple forms of communication of this knowledge are identified: synthesis and combination. These communication processes imply costs that limit the growth possibilities of the firm and define its entrepreneurial capacity.
