Abstract

[eng] This paper proposes qualitative and quantitative new contribution concerning cooperation agreements related to information technologies through the exploitation of a data base covering the period from 1988 to 1996. The characteristics of the firm are necessary to explain alliances, yet they are not sufficient, and the tests which have been carried out demonstrate that the characteristics of industries are of prime importance for a better understanding of cooperation agreements which, in turn, contribute to shape the market structures within which firms are developing.
