Abstract

[eng] The Brayton thermodynamic cycle is the technical principle according to which the gas turbine family works (simple gas turbine and combined cycle gas turbine). This paper shows the technological, socio-economical and organisational factors that explain the present emergence of the gas turbine family in the electricity production and the effects of this emergence on the structure of the electromechanic industry and on the firms strategies. This paper also shows that the access to the gas turbine technology is a restructuring factor for the electromechanic industry that tend to the strengthening of the oligopoly. It also points out that the standardisation and the differentiation of the gas turbine became a key strategies for the electromechanic firms in the battle to win the world market.
