Abstract

[eng] The informations collected to elaborate the French balance of payments allow a sectorial breakdown of flows of payments between France and abroad. This paper describes, with data of the years 1979 and 1985, the structure and the evolution of the invisible flows, especially services flows, of the industrial sector. Not only the industrial sector imports a significant part of shipment, insurance and « other services » (in the IMF standard of balance of payments), but it also exports almost a quarter of the « other services ». If the net import of shipment and insurance may often appear as a counterpart of commercial surpluses, « other services » and capital income flows are due to various factors : the nature of material production, the extent of specialisation, delocalisation or foreign control.
