Abstract

[eng] This article will give a summary of the different theories explaining the formation and evolution of oil-prices, making the key-ideas of the different authors clearer, and also showing in passing the main points of disagreement in their analyses. The explanation of the evolution of oil priees remains an open-question from a theoretical as well as empirical point of view.. In side-stepping a merely political address this article insists upon the importance of economic factors in the dynamics of the evolution of oil priees, it provides useful keys to a better understanding of the principles of supply and demand as far as oil is concemed, as well as their role as brakes or stimulators on the middle or long term fluctuations of oil-prices.
