Abstract

[eng] Analysing and forecasting approach of the size distribution of business firm is proposed with a Markov Chain. The basic tool is a transition table which gives a description of firm growth, transitions of the firm from size within a period t - 1 to t and also a description of the size distribution of the birth and death of firms. An exhaustive file including for each firm all changes a long a period of several years must be created to fulfill the transition table. Direct estimation of transition probabilities of Markov process from this table is made. Forecasts are presented for a set of firms of boot and shoe industry from 1960 to 1974 observations.
