Abstract

[eng] François Mader : Case study of industrial restructuring : The french cernent oligopole from 1962 to 1972. This paper deals with the investment and merger behaviour of the 4 biggest French cement cornpanies from 1962 to 1972. It shows that the period has known a restructuration process of the cement industry conducted by 3 companies : this evolution can be explained first by the constraints imposed by growning demand. The study concentrates on the link between growth and investment rates, depending both on the relative efficiency of the firm, and on the development of production capacities by competitors during the same period.
