Abstract

[eng] The adoption of the I4nth of July as main public celebration in the area of Somme is politically quiet easy, but it's made a bit difficult by the needs of harvest and the lack of money by communes and people at these times of stagnation, which is confirmed by the weight of public bounty. Neither deistic nor nationalist, the republican feast in Picardy celebrates the liberal and secular Republic beloved by the Opportunists, with a particular accent of patriotism, typical of an old corridor of invasion, belonging for a long time to the national community, and for a few years attracted by bou- langism.
