Abstract

[eng] Abstract How does the formulation of a medical project take chilhood into consideration? Through three different examples taken from the history of medical discourse and care practices, we will analyse the ways in which childhood has been recognised, between the two extremes of sensitivity and reason. From clinical experience which marked the Hippocratic view of médecine, to the ideal of evolution under the influence of increased médicalisation found in thexvmth century, and with reference to the apparent failure to take chilhood into account in the Middle Ages, we will try to show the paradigmatic importance granted to chilhood. The approach taken to the chilhood seems to function consistently in a dialectic relation with both the image society projects onto this concept and the aims assigned to the science of médecine in each historical period.
