Abstract

[eng] Abstract Since the publication of copies of its drawings in 1883, this manuscript has been known as Jean Cousin 's Livre de Fortune. But the famous draughtsman is not the author of this emblem book. This paper would like to focuses on Imbert d'Anlézy and his «tychology». According to this veteran of Francis I and Henry II's italian campaigns, fortune corresponds to the scattered occasions which the vertuous man is confronted to. Anlézy's encyclopedia of Fortune is somewhat of a repertory of possible answers to each of these particular moments. When meeting these occasions, man must act as a protean gambler. This is the lesson Anlézy intended to teach the duke Hercule-François ď Alençon whom the book is dedicated to.
