Abstract

[eng] Abstract After March 30, 1778, when Voltaire was crowned on a theater stage, writers and artists in general started to enjoy a new level of social recognition. Popular and spontaneous, that event had nothing in common with the old poet laureate custom. The many documents which record it (narratives, plays, pictures) make use of the traditional signs of political and religious glory in a deliberately perverted way. This clearly shows through a mathematical-like formalization. With Voltaire a new era begins : artists became for the first time independent from all powers, as they still are today.
