Abstract

[eng] Abstract Countess Auguste de La Rochejaquelein (1798-1883) lived through many a political events of the nineteenthe century. Daughter of the last Duke of Duras, wife of Count Auguste de La Rochejaquelein, brother of the famous general who led the insurrection in Vendée in 1 793, she sided with the Duchess of Berry during the rebellion of that same Vendée in 1832. Until she died she defended the «legitimist» cause, in France as well as in the Spanish-Portuguese peninsula, and did it with a zeal and steadfastness that contemporaries did not fail to notice. The most important episodes of her life are her described. They witness the formidable boldness and untiring zeal of the «legitimist» nobility for a cause they truly believed in and for which they fought for, looking forward to the restoration of the Old. Regime until late into the century.
