Abstract

[fre] Abstract Many general studies are mistaken in their view of Brazil, when they consider the quality of life in the contemporary world : apparently, they only know Sâo Paulo and Amazonia. Actually, almost 80 % of Brazil's present population (which reaches 155 million inhabitants) live in the country's seven largest cities. The quality of life in Brazil is discussed here on the base of three examples; two of them - Sâo Paulo and Curitiba - belong to the « rich » area of South Central Brazil. The third one, the axis Ilheus-Itabuna - has been taken in the « poor » North- East. Indeed, unequality prevails in megapolis which are too big, but one must never overlook how diverse is Brazil and how multiple solutions have been found.
