Abstract

[eng] Abstract During the years 1928-1938, the Montecatini group starts the aluminium production through the new plant in the Val Lagarina, a plain near Trento. In a short while emissions of Fluorine cause a strong pollution and the inhabitants of the area ask for compensations and to suspend all production. The deny of the local authorities and of the management of the plant are the main reasons for two revolts. The main historical problem is therefore if it exists an environmental consciousness, widespread also in backward and popular sectors of society. Besides, the idea about the historical method to be adopted is to give way to a strong interdis- ciplinarity, in order to manage at best the complexity of the topics arising from the long-term environmental dynamics.
