Abstract

[eng] Abstract A double statement is essential after the síudy of ADM. 106 and ADM.42 series from the Public Record Office respectively containing the Navy Board's and the dockyard's pay-lists. At the end of the period of uncertainly whose risks are recounted here during the Seven Year's War, England had two genuine naval bases : Port-Royal in Jamaica and English Harbour in Antigua. With the improvement of the logistics system in naval materials, the British Navy was actually much more operational during this war, that is to say that many less vessels were no more to be seen immobilised awaiting repair or careening as during the previous wars. Secondly, the cover of needs, concerning both food and naval materials, became more and more secure but at a lower price. Obviously, excepting the remuneration of negro labourers, other costs were decreased. The cost of living for each person dispatched in this zone was reduced as a consequence of the cost savings ; so, the development of both administration and naval structure was a determining factor of the british success during the Seven Year's War.
