[fre] Résumé Aux portes des cités anglaises, les liberties constituaient un espace juridiquement intégré à la ville mais dont la structure foncière était proche de celle des campagnes avoisinantes. La terre appartenait à une poignée de grands propriétaires membres de la gentry. Ils se servirent de cet enracinement pour participer aux luttes politiques à l'intérieur de la cité. [eng] Abstract The liberty of an english provincial town is a district outside the city wall but under the city juridiction. The land of the liberties was concentrated in the hands of the gentry, which use it in order to break in on the urban political struggles.
