[fre] Résumé Contrairement à l'interprétation habituelle, Nicolas Poussin ne s'est pas trompé quand il peignit les deux mères de ce tableau. La mère qui est vue comme la « mauvaise mère » est en réalité la « bonne mère », mais furieuse, emportée par cette passion bien connue et souvent décrite au XVIIe siècle, la colère. Poussin a représenté la « bonne mère » à l'ultime moment d'une légitime mais dangereuse colère, juste avant qu'elle ne renonce à son fils pour lui sauver la vie.
