Abstract

[eng] Abstract In the eighteenth century, the financials role (general farmers, general tax collectors, aid general stewards and estate general administrators) became more important in the economical, social and cultural fields. The studying of this group does not only consist in the evolution of its fortune. It is also looking for qualitative criterious, such as geneaology, the connections' network and, at the end, the analysis of the housing conditions of these financials. Indeed, these ours rivaled themselves in luxury. The forming of their taste, the way they make display of their wealth, their way of life, their lucrative activities, their values, all in all, have lastingly influenced the second rank they belong to in a more or less recent way. This progressive action regenerated the elite of the Nation and, on the eve of the Revolution, scaled diverse ranks which were until now distincts in an unique (one and lonely) aristocratic society.
