Abstract

[eng] Abstract The Cuban crisis was a kind of alibi in Franco-American relations. While the main stream in 1962 and 1963 was made of misunderstandings, estrangements, pinpricks, the missile crisis supplied a counter-example, the proof of General de Gaulle's solidarity whith his American ally. Before the crisis, France contributed to supply the United States with information about the installation of Soviet missiles in Cuba. During the crisis, de Gaulle, unlike the British, gave his immediate and unconditional support. After the crisis, France distanced herself from America, who was settling the world's affairs with the U.S.S.R., without consulting her allies.
