Abstract

[eng] Abstract The archives of Church jurisdictions in the Paris diocese — mainly the court of the great archdeacon — contain a certain number of cases related to the Eucharistie sacrement. The indictment of priests for crimes related to this sacrament bring to light the acute sensitivity of both worshippers and clergy to the real Presence. « Eucharistie crimes » commited by people who are sole intermediaries between men and the Sacred constitute a threat to the community as a whole. Ecclesiastical courts provide concrete evidence of a worship better known through its artistic illustrations or normative texts. The 1534 Placards scandal is all the more deeply felt because it strikes at the heart of this religious feeling based on the awe and worship of God's presence.
