Abstract

The daily evacuation of these muds is the first priority of the public hygienics in the capital. In a tipcart the greatest part of the daily refuse are street's muds, and the domestic ordures represent only a small quantity. The reason is, part of the domestic ordures is incinerated in the fireplace, and the rest is often collected by a rag-and- bone man before taken off to the tipcart. In 1775, the annual quantity of faeces extracted from the cesspools parisian do not exceed 27 000 cubic meters. Muds and faeces are put in the refuse collections respectively which are expelled gradually to the periphery of Paris.
