Abstract

[eng] The results of official forecasting on the residence of foreigners in France, as given by INED in 1980, have been modified by a mistake which led to the disappearance of nearly two millions foreigners projected in 2015. These results were published in the report Demography, Immigration and Naturalization, which was handed in June 1980 to the Minister of Labour and Participation, and they were officially introduced and discussed at a seminar on this issue at the « National Conference on Demography », which INED organized in France on the 23rd, 24 th and 25th of June 1980. This mistake was never corrected to this day, although it was mentioned in discussions and recommendations conerning, among others, the definition of French immigration policy.
