Abstract

[eng] Salaries in Relation to Qualifications. More Value is Attached to Professional Experience at the Top of the Hierarchy - Qualification is the most decisive factor in accounting for the gaps between salaries: the gross income of senior executives is, on the average, nearly five times higher than that of the least qualified workers. On the other hand, the higher the qualification, the wider the range of salaries, in absolute terms, within a given job category. However, there is little variation in relative terms. Blue collar and clerical workers, who are at the same level of qualification, receive more money for the type of job they hold and their seniority in the firm than for their professional experience. For technicians and supervisors, seniority also has a substantial effect on their salaries. However, for them, and also, to a larger extent, for executives, their professional experience is more highly valued.
