Abstract

[eng] Long period data on labor force, employment and unemployment - An important work has just been published which presents homogeneous data on the evolution of the labor market over the last 30 years. The labor force has increased nuously, become younger and counts now more women. It has also become more educated. Employment increased until 1980. Employment in services has expanded greatly. «Odd jobs» — temporary and part-time jobs, fixed-term contracts — are expanding significantly. The rise of unemployement was prior to 1974; there were on million out of work in 1976, two millions in 1 983. Young people and women are the most vulnerable, but older people remain unemployed longer. Such are some of the most significant trends brought to light by this publication.
