Abstract

[eng] The marriage seasonality - Future spouses prefer to get married in summer or else in April, that month being the preferred one twenty years ago. The winter months are the most neglected. Religious and customary interdictions, like those concerning May, are less and less respected; the only exception which appeared more recently concerns November, «the month of the dead ». . These results are taken from the Family Survey addressed to women. French women favor July, foreigners August. Only farmers avoids being married during the summer because of farm work. Seasonal effects are much less pronounced among those who are not working and in the case of premarital conceptions. For remarriages, December is the preferred month.
