Abstract

[eng] Specialty subcontracting : the woolens network in the Midi - Pyrénées region - For textile companies in the Midi - Pyrénées region, recourse to subcontracting is a necessity. The principals, or « job assigners », have a specific operation, called « work done on order », carried out by the takers of orders or « manufacturers of specific orders ». More than 90% of the textile companies in the region receive or give these job orders. For a large majority of « job assigners », the work represents only a marginal part of their turnover. For the manufacturers of job orders, on the other hand, the work received constitutes the main part of their activity. . Subcontractors and suppliers are geographically close. In Ariège, the principals are essentially in the weaving industry; in the Tarn, they are more diversified : hosiery as well as weaving.
