Abstract

[eng] The marriage and birth rates among foreigners - Among the women 40 to 50 years of age living at present in France, North African women married earlier and Spanish women married later than French women. Among younger women, the differences are less pronounced or even disappear. What does not disappear is the attachment to the country of origin : foreigners often return there to celebrate their marriage. The presence of foreigners increases the birth rate by a little less than 0.1 child per woman. Spanish and Italian woman have the same number of children as French women. The Portuguese have more and North Africans many more. Where the birth rate as well as the marriage rate are concerned, the Algerians distinguish themselves from the Moroccans and the Tunisians : the younger generations marry and have their first child much later than their elders.
