Abstract

[eng] The Productivity of Labor and Prices in Retail Trade - The slowdown in the apparent productivity of labor which has been observed in trade since 1974 can be explained by the weakening of productive investments, a certain stabilization of the share in the market held by different kinds of businesses, and by the increase in the number of small firms, which have a lower productivity. This slowdown in productivity is linked to the trend of the price of commercial service. However, in retail trade, the inflationary effect due to the low rise in productivity is less than is generally imagined.
