Abstract

[eng] The Crisis in the Production System - This article summarizes the contribution to the understanding of the production system provided by the exhaustive analysis of thirty-eight sectors over the past twenty years. Technical innovations, social change, and internationalization are the key words describing the trends of these last decades. Faced with these upheavals, different sectors have shown different capacities for responding and reacting. These capacities stem primarily from the make-up and the type of management of the work-force in the sector, its trends of profitability, and its degree of freedom in setting prices. On the whole, the dynamics of relatively autonomous trends within sectors can be distinguished, and their influence may be the cause of a certain number of overall macro-economic phenomena.
