Abstract

[fre] De 1920 à 1960, la population mondiale a augmenté de 61 %: 45 % dans les régions développées, 70 % dans les autres. Mais dans le même temps, la population des villes de plus de 20 000 habitants a presque triplé. Sur 3 milliards de personnes, le quart, soit 750 millions, vivaient en 1960 dans ces villes. Et en Tan 2000, la moitié de la population mondiale pourrait être urbaine. Telles sont les conclusions d'un récent rapport de l'O.N.U. sur l'urbanisation1. Ce document à l'abondante méthodologie retrace l'évolution de la population urbaine et rurale dans le monde entre 1920 et 1960 et présente des prévisions pour 1980 et l'an 2 000. C'est la première étude d'ensemble sur ces sujets.
