Abstract

[fre] Dès la fin des hostilités, le gouvernement britannique a affirmé sa volonté de reconstituer la flotte marchande de la Grande-Bretagne et cela, malgré le prix élevé de la construction dans les chantiers anglais et la concurrence de la marine marchande américaine. Les chantiers britanniques s'orientent actuellement, tant pour le compte de la Grande-Bretagne qui pour celui des pays étrangers, vers la construction d'unités « spécialisées » qui compenseront en partie l'infériorité numérique des flottes européennes par rapport à la flotte américaine, très importante, mais de caractère trop « indifférencié ». .
