Comparison of Creative Potential within Czech and Slovak Regions in Relation to Selected Macroeconomic Indicators

Abstract

In the introduction this essay presents a basic concept of creative economy. This concept is based on the growth theory and there is added the sociable-urban aspect. The birth of the information and communication technologies (ICT) together with the development of internet transformed completely not only trade patterns but also sociable behaviour patterns. There were appeared the significant demand for creative workers. The creativity has become essential holder of the economic development. In relation to the presented concept of the creative economy this essay analyzes the influence of creativity for economic level of individual regions in the Czech and Slovak Republic. To quantify the creative potential is used a creative index, which is analyzed in relation to the basic macroeconomic indicators. The result confirmed the significant positive correlation between the creative value index and the economic level of region. Also, the assumption that creativity is tied to major cities, was confirmed. By the comparison of situation in examined territorial units the essay confirmed the higher influence of the creativity for the development of regions in the Czech Republic.
