Otevřené myšlení a jeho nepřátelé

Abstract

Člověk musí být schopen poznávat pravdu, aby se nemusel za svůj rozum sám před sebou stydět. To znamená, že musí být schopen rozpoznat hranice svého rozumu a odlišit obecnou pravdu (teorii) od praktické potřeby, která se vždy vztahuje pouze k potřebám a nutnostem jeho imanentního smrtelného bytí. To vyžaduje schopnost ponechat iracionálním elementům reality právo na "svobodný projev", což vyžaduje vždy určitou prázdnotu duše, úžas tváří v tvář ne-rozumu. Toho však není možno dosáhnout, jsou-li znalosti předávány jako definitivně pravdivá dogmata, bez objasnění problémů, které vedly k vzniku těchto znalostí. Tento přístup k znalostem vede k pouhému zneužívání rozumu ve prospěch praxe, což v principu zamezuje rozvoji rozumu v závislosti na pravdě. Nepřátelé myšlení, které je otevřené pohybu pravdy, jsou tedy ti, kteří vydávají zkušenosti vztažené k praktickým potřebám za definitivní pravdu a znalosti tak prezentují jako následek pouhé praktické potřeby. Toto se projevuje často zejména při analýzách ekonomických systémů, kde se znalosti považují za dobré spíše pro zisk, který přinášejí, a ne pro pravdu, která v nich snad je obsažena.
