Abstract

Long run, the theatres, acting on the territory of the Czech Republic are faced with a shortage of financial resources to ensure their operation, irrespective of whether it is a theatre founded by the public sector or the private sector. Multi-ensemble regional theatres are established mainly municipalities in the form of subsidized organizations and therefore a contribution for their operation from the founder, make up the largest share of all subsidies provided by the public sector. It is evident that regional theaters have become public budgets of municipalities inancial burden that increases by tax revenue decreasing. The way out of this situation, there is models that is commonly applied in western EU countries, when they are in the financing of such large organizations involved not only municipalities but also regional or state level. The theatres, founded in accordance with the law no 250/2000 Coll., as amended, which have the status of contributory organisations have at their disposal several legal instruments, both partially deal with the lack of financial resources. The aim of this contribution is to point out unbalanced distribution of financial support from public resources for the financing of multi-ensemble regional theaters, which is based on long-term trends of developments in the financing of these institutions in the Czech Republic and in the context of the standard rules with funding similar organizations abroad. And than the aim of this contribution is to find out how legal norms can affect the results of real bodies of management of the theatres and their economic status. In this contribution will be analyzed selected multi-ensemble regional theatres established by municipalities and the Ministry of culture of the Czech Republic, which have the status of contributory organization.
