Ecopolis: reinventarea orasului

Abstract

Urbanizarea a fost, fara indoiala, una dintre componentele definitorii ale modernizarii si, deopotriva, un criteriu de evaluare a performantei societatii umane angajate intr-un proces contradictoriu de retragere din fata naturii in interiorul zidurilor cetatii si, respectiv, de expansiune a acestora in areale naturale. In ultimele decenii, pe fondul amplificarii crizei ecologice, a devenit imperativa reconsiderarea relatiei omului cu natura, in general, a orasului cu mediul natural, in particular. In acest context, a fost pusa in circulatie, prin contributia lui Downton (1989), Koskiaho (1994), Girardet (2004), sintagma ecopolis. Sintagma care a fost primita cu rezerve, fiind considerata o contradictio in terminis: un ecopolis autentic nu poate exista de vreme ce edificarea unui oras presupune dislocarea naturii si crearea unei nise alocate in exclusivitate omului. Comunicarea prezenta propune examinarea posibilitatii reinventarii orasului si a realizarii, pe aceasta baza, a ecopolisului ca manifestare a culturii ecologice, a adoptarii unui nou mod de gestionare a cunoasterii, de intelegere a raportului omului cu natura si de concepere a menirii orasului.
