Abstract

The engineering sector is the backbone of industrial production in Slovakia. In recent years this sector has experienced record lows and highs nearly simultaneously. In Slovakia, it represents a kind of mother industry. Production for automotive vehicles is the strongest branch of engineering manufacturing, followed by the production of electrical and optical equipment. In summary, there is a view that engineering businesses in Slovakia have weak capital strength and financing their development is very risky. It is therefore necessary to look for other sources of financing, which would offer these businesses a competitive edge in a market economy, while adhering to legal requirements. The aim of the authors is to determine, using mathematical and statistical methods, for funding opportunities that engineering companies in the Slovak Republic can take advantage of. This paper deals with the analysis of financial metrics for the period 2007-2013
